Participants on-court during the Coaching Advanced Players course in South Africa

South Africa recently hosted an ITF/OS Advanced Coaches Course in Pretoria from the 13th to the 24th of November 2017. The course took place at the HPC (University of Pretoria High Performance Centre). ITF expert André de Beer was assisted by local tutors Pieter Joubert & Ghizela Enslin from South Africa who conducted the course for 24 participants from the Southern Africa region. There were 20 male coaches and 4 female coaches with their ages ranging from 22 to 45 years old. The countries represented by the participants were Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland, Malawi, Lesotho, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

The course was organised in a professional, competent and highly efficient manner. The participants worked together very well and used their newly learnt tennis knowledge to progress to the next level. The entire course was done at the University tennis courts and lecture room that was situated at the tennis clubhouse. The course was an intense 12 days in duration and really challenged the participants in many ways.

The ITF/OS Coaching Advanced Players Coaches Course would not have been so successful without the involvement and support of the ITF and OS. It was encouraging to see more coaches empowering themselves and committing to working together towards a common goal and ensure better quality coaching in the Southern African region.

A big thank you to all the participating coaches for putting in great efforts during the course. It will be fantastic to see these coaches applying their newfound knowledge and giving it all on the tennis courts.
