From the series of the ITF Coach Education programmes in West & Central Asia for 2018, an ITF Play Tennis Course took place in Amman, Jordan.

ITF Development Officer for West & Central Asia, Amir Borghei, conducted the course, assisted by Rafik Bouchlaka, Tarek Shwawka and Mrs. Muna Al Zabin from Jordan. Sixteen participants from Jordan had the chance to participate in the course which was organised from 4th to 7th of March at the JTF National Centre.

The course included familiarisation with the ITF Play & Stay campaign and the supporting programs (Tennis 10s – Tennis Xpress), Red Orange Green (ROG) Stages of teaching/learning as well as the relevant courts and equipment, the 3 game situations and the main tactical objectives, types of feeding, differentiation/rotation/coordination, optimal challenge, tactical and technical principles in Tennis 10s as well as for adult beginners.

The feedback from participants was very positive and they all enjoyed the practical ideas that they gained throughout the course.

Amir Borghei, commented: "The ITF Coach Education policy in the region is to support the potential national federations to become self-sufficient at least at Play Tennis level and organise their courses on a regular basis. I believe it is important for the JTF to organise similar courses every year in order to make sure that more qualified coaches teach the tennis basics in the country. It was also a great chance to train three local Play Tennis tutors and upon gaining more experience, they can continue with the courses in Jordan. I should also thank the JTF for the organisation of the course and the opportunity given to the Jordanian coaches".

Hazem Adas, president of Jordan Tennis Federation, commented: “After organising the ITF National Training Centre Network programme at the end of last year, this course was a great opportunity for our promising coaches on the way to developing their knowledge and becoming certified in their coaching jobs. We would like to thank the ITF for this and it remains important for us to organise this type of program again in the future."

JTF President and board members as well as the ITF Development Officer for the region attended the closing ceremony and awarded the ITF certificates' of attendance to all participants.
