On court presentation at the Central American & Caribbean Regional Conference

The 7th ITF Central American and Caribbean Regional Coaches Conference by BNP Paribas held from 19 to 22 September in Leon, Guanajuato (Mexico) came to an end, with positive remarks by Dave Miley, ITF Executive Director of Tennis Development and by Mr Jorge Ramirez, President of the Guanajuato Tennis Association, who commented on the success of the conference.

The conference brought together a cross section of coaches from Central America and the Caribbean; although the Mexican participation proved to be the largest delegation with one hundred and seventy five of the two hundred and twenty six coaches that attended.

Many motivational speakers presented great topics that inspired the participating coaches such as: Paul Dent (GBR), Larry Jurovich (CAN), Tom Gullickson (USA), David Ramos (USA), Fernando Segal (MEX), Paul Walker (USA) and many others. However, it was Beni Linder (SUI) who stole the show by receiving a standing ovation for his wit, tenacity and dynamic performance during his final presentation.

The conference once again proved its importance as the region continues to benefit from experienced and knowledgeable speakers from around the world, contributing to the education of coaches from across the region. Furthermore, the conference gives the opportunity to interact, share good and bad experiences with regional colleagues, and to offer solutions to various challenges in the respective nations.

On a final note, gratitude was shown to the many supporting partners of the conference, such as BNP Paribas, Olympic Solidarity, the International Tennis Federation, the Mexican Tennis Federation, the Guanajuato Tennis Association and other sponsors without whose support, the conference would not have been as successful.
